Data supporting paper A. Dmowska and T. F. Stepinski (2019) Mapping changes in racial composition in the United States using US census tract historical data, (paper submitted to Historical Methods: A Journal of Quantitative and Interdisciplinary History)

  • Historical census tracts showing racial composition and diversity/dominant race classification in US cities between 1910-2010 (available as ESRI Shapefiles). For the purpose of mapping racial composition for the period 1910-2010 we reclassified racial data from particular census years into maximum 5 categories to assure comparability between censuses. The final product is made available as a set of zip archives for each metropolitan area. Each zip archive contains ESRI shapefile for the available years and QGIS legend file to map racial diversity classification.

Data supporting paper J. Niesterowicz and T. Stepinski,  Delineation of small-scale forest land units in Canada via pattern-based segmentation of EOSD dataset. Paper published in International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation. Use QGIS open source GIS to view and analyze the data. In particular, attribute tables for Canada-wide segmentations of EOSD have 1037 columns and will not open in ArcGIS but will open in QGIS.

  • 30m/pixel population, race and racial diversity grids for each county and for 363 metropolitan areas in the conterminous U.S. for 1990, 2000 and 2010. Data are organized as zip archive. Zip archives contain demographic grids regardless of county boundary changes, if county name was the same for all years.
